Benjamin Barber Romulus Eau de Parfum is a bold, characterful leather fragrance with creamy, ambery depth, drawing its name and story from Roman mythology and the legend of Romulus and Remus. Created by perfumer Mathieu Nardin.

The myth of Romulus is one of tragedy and survival: a king's daughter walled up and left to die after being seduced by Mars, god of war, and bearing twin sons, Romulus and Remus. Cast into the Tiber, the twins were saved and raised by a she-wolf, growing into formidable warriors. Each brother built walls around a hill and turned on the other - Romulus emerged victorious, giving Rome both its city and its name.

True to that story, the Romulus fragrance is fierce, muscular and just as dramatic: raw animal leather, spice and layered sweetness. Orris, saffron, cinnamon, cypriol and leather sit atop a rich, elegant oud base that unfolds into velvety vanilla in the drydown - a scent built around courage, power and confidence.

The oud itself is a reconstructed note developed by Arturetto Landi, inspired by the oil of the Australian agarwood tree - Vietnamese in origin, and sweeter, woodier and milder than traditional Asian oud.
